Town of Firestone

Firestone was originally a sod fortress and was built between 1863 and 1865.    Firestone was the first to open Colorado's 1st production coal mine in 1872, and the Town was named after Jacob Firestone.   He was an Ohio investor that started Firestone Coal Company.

 

You will find Firestone 10 minutes North of Denver off I-25.   Located on 7,714 acres or 12.05 square miles, you will find 15 parks and 5 miles of trail system.   Firestone has been the fastest growing community from 2000-2010 with a 432% increase in population.

 

There are two school Districts - St. Vrain and Weld County RE-1.
